Soundtrack Problems That May Be Treated
The treatment depends on the source, the severity of the damage and whether the affected sound can be separated from legitimate dialogue, music, effects or atmosphere.
Selective Treatment, Not Blanket Processing
Film soundtracks contain dialogue, music, Foley, effects, room tone and historical production artefacts. A defect may sit directly beside a sound that must be preserved.
Matt reviews the soundtrack scene by scene, second by second and, where required, frame by frame. Processing is applied only where needed rather than automatically across the complete film.
The objective is not to make an older soundtrack sound artificially modern. It is to reduce distracting defects while protecting the original tone, texture and character of the production.
